Import your church members into PostSermon

Your member database is the foundation for messaging, groups and attendance. Here’s how to get everyone in — by hand, or by importing the spreadsheet you already have.

Updated July 2026

Step by step

  1. 1

    Add a member by hand

Enter a name, phone, email and opt-ins. In Ghana a phone number is required (it’s the identity key); in the US email is required instead. You can add groups now or later.

  2. 2

    Bulk-import a spreadsheet

Upload the CSV you already track your members in. Map your columns once — name, phone, email, groups — and PostSermon imports everyone and remembers the matching for next time.

  3. 3

    Let events feed the database

Anyone who registers for one of your events is matched to an existing member or added as a new one, so your database grows without double-typing.

  4. 4

    Fix what didn’t import

Rows with a missing required field or a duplicate phone/email are flagged with a clear reason rather than silently dropped, so you can correct and re-import just those.

Questions

What should the spreadsheet look like?

A row per member with columns for name, phone and/or email, and optionally a groups column. You map your headers during import, so the exact column names don’t matter.

What happens to duplicates?

A member with the same phone (Ghana) or email (US) as one already in the database is flagged, not added twice.
